Halfa (Esparto) is an abundant plant in Tunisia, especially in the regions of Kasserine. Known for its robustness, Halfa is cultivated over hundreds of hectares, harvested by hand during the summer and then dried in the open air before being carefully sorted to separate the strands. With an ancestral artisanship, Craftswomen patiently weave rugged halfa grass into authentic and pretty lanterns, baskets and other decorative and household items.
